Ruud Dismantles Berrettini
Casper Ruud is now at 11/4 (with bet365) to win the tournament, following his emphatic win over Matteo Berrettini in straight sets.
Ruud is now the red-hot favourite to go the distance – right after Carlos Alcaraz (who is still the favourite with 7/4).
World No. 7 Ruud has had a brilliant year – highlighted by his runner-up feats in the French Open and Miami Open, and three titles from the Argentina Open, Geneva Open, and Swiss Open.
The 23-year-old Norwegian is now 43-15 after his victories over the likes of Kyle Edmund, Tim van Rijthoven, Tommy Paul, and Corentin Moutet at the Flushing Meadows.
His semifinal opponent – World No. 31 Karen Khachanov – is 11/2 at the moment to go the distance. It may be a bet worth making, especially considering that the chances of an upset can never be undermined.
Of course, Khachanov has his work cut out. He has never made it this far in a major, and his record has only improved to 31-20 after his brilliant time in New York. That said, his thrilling five-set win over Nick Kyrgios in the quarterfinal should give punters some confidence in him.
Khachanov is clearly experienced and has proven his mettle against several top-10 players like Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Marin Cilic, Dominic Thiem, and more. Underestimating him purely for his lack of pedigree may prove to be a costly mistake.

Garcia Now at 15/8
Caroline Garcia is set to compete in her first Grand Slam semifinal. The bookmakers have put her at 15/8 (with bet365) to go the distance – not a bad valuation at all.
The way Garcia has navigated her bracket in New York is commendable. She has not dropped a single set en route, having beaten a few high-profile players like Bianca Andreescu, Caroline Riske-Amritraj, and Coco Gauff.
Caroline is also on a 13-match win streak, spanning across her title run in Cincinnati as a qualifier. Before this, she had won the tournaments in Bad Homburg and Warsaw and the French Open doubles with Kristina Mladenovic.
In fact, what may seem a bit surprising is the odds on her opponent Ons Jabeur.
The Tunisian, current World No. 5, is pegged at a surprising 9/2 to win the title. Jabeur’s season has been far more impressive than Garcia’s – with a Wimbledon runner-up feat, two WTA 1000 finals, and two WTA 500 finals.
Jabeur’s experience and learnings from these tournaments have reflected beautifully in New York. In recent rounds, she has enjoyed a smooth journey with wins over Shelby Rogers, Veronika Kudermetova, and Ajla Tomljanovic.
In other words, Jabeur’s chances of winning the slam are much higher than what the bookmakers make it to be. Ons is a value bet worth considering.
