Katie Swan v Arianne Hartono Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between 23 year old Swan, and Hartono, who is three years older.

Swan has had persistent injury problems earlier in her career, but. now fully fit again, she can concentrate on trying to move up the world rankings.

On the ITF tour she has a remarkable record – she has appeared in 11 singles’ finals and won all of them, including two this year, in the Dominican Republic in February, and Lexington last month.

Meanwhile, on the senior tour, her best results this year came on grass. She came through qualifying to make the main draw in Bad Homburg, and then enjoyed one of the biggest wins of her career by beating the former US Open champion Sloane Stephens, before her run was ended at the second round stage by Bianca Andreescu.

She was also given a wildcard into her home Grand Slam event of Wimbledon, but then lost a three set battle with the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.

Hartono Better Known for Doubles

Hartono is a regular on the ITF tour, where she has enjoyed particular success in doubles, winning 13 titles in all, the most recent of which was on clay in Germany in July.

Her record in singles is more modest, although she has two tournament victories on her CV, the last of which was back in 2019.

Earlier this year she made her Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open after coming through qualifying, but then was beaten in the first round by the American, Amanda Anisimova.

Her best performance on the senior tour this year was on the grass of Rosmalen on home soil in June, when she reached the second round.

Most recently, she tried and failed to qualify for the US Open, going out at the second round stage of the qualifying competition.

Swan v Hartono Prediction and Tip

Although she is the lower ranked player, based on comparative recent form on the ITF tour, Swan must consider herself favourite for this match against a player whose best results tend to come on the doubles court.
