Elena Rybakina v Lesia Tsurenko Head to Head

Tsurenko won their only meeting in Eastbourne this year, fighting back from a set down to beat the Kazakh in three.

Rybakina Overcomes Slow Start to Down Martincova

After surviving an edge-of-the-seat thriller against Laura Siegemund in the opening round, Elena Rybakina ousted Tereza Martincova in straight sets to march into the quarterfinals of the tournament.

The Wimbledon champion made a slow start falling 0-4 behind in the first set, but she soon found her range and won six games in a row to take the opening set. In the second set, Rybakina continued to take the game to the Czech and broke the World No. 66 twice on her way to a 6-4, 6-1 victory.

The World no. 25 had battled past Siegemund in a three-hour-and-22-minute first-round contest on Tuesday. Rybakina had lost the first set but she bounced back over the next two sets to beat the German 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-6 (10-8).

Rybakina, who won the Wimbledon title by beating Ons Jabeur in the final, was also a finalist in Adelaide this year. Thursday’s win improved her season record to 34-16 and her hard court record to 17-9 in 2022.

On Friday, she will be aiming to reach her third semifinal of the season.

Tsurenko Battles Past Alexandrova

Lesia Tsurenko is making a habit of winning long battles. The Ukrainian, who defeated Romania’s Elena-Gabriela Ruse in a two-hour-and-58-minute first-round match, needed two hours and 27 minutes to see off Ekaterina Alexandrova in the second round.

But unlike her opening round match, she needed just two sets to beat the Russian in round 2. During the second round match, Tsurenko came back from 3-5 down in both the sets to take the contest 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).

Both players held 13 break points in the match with Tsurenko converting six and Alexandrova converting five of them.

Tsurenko had beaten Ruse 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 in the first round.

This is the third time she has reached a quarterfinal this year, but is yet to make it to the semifinals. Can she reach her first semifinal since Brisbane in 2019, where she was a finalist?

Rybakina v Tsurenko Prediction and Tip

Experience and form both favour Rybakina. Plus Tsurenko has not reached a semifinal in a while, so there would be added pressure on the Ukrainian. Expect Rybakina to win in three.

Tip: Rybakina to win in three sets: 10/3 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
