After suffering three successive defeats in the US Open Series, Nakashima rediscovered some of the rhythm that has made him one of the players to watch out in the future.
At the season’s final Grand Slam, Nakashima followed up his fourth round showing at Wimbledon with a third round appearance at Flushing Meadows. Earlier this year he had also entered the third round at Roland-Garros, all of which are now his best showing at those respective Grand Slam competitions.
What makes that US Open result even better is one of those victories came against Grigor Dimitrov and in straight sets at that.
At Wimbledon, Nakashima had defeated Denis Shapovalov as well.

Svajda Hoping to Break into Top 300
Svajda is just 19 years of age but has already been making waves at the lower levels, having won three Futures titles over the last 15 or so months.
Such was his performance last year, he was afforded a wildcard into the main draw of the US Open where, ranked outside the top 700, he shocked Marco Cecchinato in the opener to win his maiden Grand Slam encounter.
Since then, Svajda hasn’t quite featured at the highest level again, missing out on the US Open qualification this season when he fell in the second qualifier, but this main draw entry gives him a chance to show what he’s capable of.
A solid player at the net, Svajda has a strong game from the baseline too, making him a tough opponent.

While Nakashima is a favourite, he could take time getting used to Svajda’s game and that might give the latter a chance to sneak through one of the sets.
