Alexei Popyrin v James Duckworth Head to Head
While overall they have faced off three times at all levels, there has been just one match at the highest level on the ATP circuit between these two players and Duckworth had won that in straight sets at last year’s Paris Masters.

Popyrin’s Form Leaves a Lot to Desire
While Popyrin did surprise the pre-match favourite Chun Hsin Tseng in the first round of the US Open that just went by, that win was an exception to the norm that has been the case throughout this season for the Aussie.
And it’s that norm which has seen Popyrin fall to 90th in the world, having won just two main draw matches on the ATP circuit since March this year. One if you discount a first round retirement in Washington last month.
Popyrin’s overall season record has been anything but exemplary too. The Aussie has won just five main draw matches and lost 15, not to mention a few other losses in the qualifiers of competitions too.
Coming up against Duckworth, he would love to do a lot better but with just a 25% win record for the season, the chances of that happening seem bleak.

Duckworth Coming off Challenger Appearances
After getting knocked out of the US Open in the second round, Duckworth opted to feature on the Challenger circuit to keep the rhythm and has played in two of those tournaments. Both on hard courts.
At Cassis, Duckworth made the final before going down to Hugo Grenier, while at the second one in Istanbul, he was knocked out in his opener. The latter result was probably out of exhaustion having had just a one-day gap between the two tournaments.
Duckworth had earlier struggled to get going too though.
In fact it wasn’t till he had featured in Newport in July that he had won a main round match at the highest level.
A quarterfinal appearance seemed to have allowed his confidence to return and he enters this encounter as a favourite.
Popyrin v Duckworth Prediction and Tip
While both players have had form issues this season, Duckworth looks to have shown better on-court stability and results in recent times and should start off as a favourite to clinch it.
Tip: Duckworth to win: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
