Dan Evans v Taro Daniel Head to Head
While these two players have never faced off at the highest level, they have played each other four times on the Challenger circuit and in a qualifying match of an ATP tournament. The match-up is tied at two wins apiece for both.
Interestingly, all four matches came on outdoor hardcourt surfaces.

Evans in a Mixed Year
It’s not been the best of seasons for Evans but every now and then he has shown the kind of spark you would expect from a player looking to break into the top 20 on the ATP Rankings.
That was on display at the Canadian Masters last month where Evans made it as far as the semifinal with some stunning performances against Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.
That was also on show earlier this year when he went on a five-match winning streak at the ATP Cup and Sydney International and later won a Challenger competition in Nottingham.
Between all that, however, Evans struggled to make it too far in the tournaments that matter – like getting knocked out in the third round at US Open and losing the Wimbledon opener.
He had a bye here to begin with and will hope he can kick off with a solid showing.

Daniel Cruises Past Nava
Having gone into his opener as a 7/10 favourite, Daniel was a straight-set winner over Emilio Nava, making it his first main draw victory in nearly two months.
Daniel, who had last won a first round match in Atlanta in July, registered a 6-4, 6-3 win in an hour and 34 minutes to set up this meeting against Evans.
The Japanese player was up an early break but dropped serve in the eighth game of the opening set. In the very next game, he broke Nava to love before serving it out.
It became a lot easier for him in the second set when Daniel broke Nava in the seventh and ninth game to clinch the win.
Can Daniel now put up an equally strong showing against Evans?
Evans v Daniel Prediction and Tip
Evans might not have been in the great of nicks, he will still be a 11/25 favourite to clinch this. Backing him for a win, not just sure if it would be a straight-set victory.
Tip: Evans to win: 11/25 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
