Nakashima Eyeing Final
Brandon Nakashima is doing really well in San Diego and it’s not a surprise because the American is a native of the city. Playing at home gives a lot of comfort to many players and Nakashima practically grew up on these courts.
Even so it wasn’t as smooth of a journey to the semi-final.
The first two matches were in straight sets however the final one was a victory in three sets. It was against an in-form Galan who pushed him quite hard. Still, the American was able to secure the win and move into the semi-final with a chance to get into the final.
He’s a prototypical American player with a strong serve and game built around his groundstrokes. Nothing sticks out particularly but he’s pretty solid overall. A decent 30-22 year is behind him as well so there is certainly something to build upon these recent results.

First Semi-final for O’Connell
It’s been a superb week for Australian O’Connell who has booked his maiden ATP semi-final and it comes in a year where he has played tremendous tennis. A 37-19 record is quite impressive and it’s the reason why he’s fairly close to making it into the top 100.
The week in San Diego is a long one but also one filled with impressive wins. His latest one, over Jenson Brooksby, sticks out because it was the hardest he achieved but also the best tennis he played. Serving is a particular strength of his that has worked really well but he’s been hitting the ball really cleanly as well.
Overall it’s just a week where he played some of the best tennis he played all year long. If he keeps up that level t will certainly be close and I do expect him to push Nakashima really hard. I don’t know if he’ll be able to win because the American is quite solid.
Nakashima v O’Connell Prediction and Tip
So this is a very interesting matchup between two players who are playing at a close level. I do think Nakashima will win but I think it will take him three sets to do it.
Tip: Nakashima to win in three sets: 5/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
