Mannarino’s Poor Start Indoors

Adrian Mannarino recently won a trophy in Winston-Salem but it hasn’t been that good for him since. He lost in the opening round of the US Open and then did the same last week in Metz. It was a home event indoors for him so the quick exit was a rather strange occurrence.

He’s generally a fairly solid indoor player thanks to his precise serve that allows him to keep points short and sweet. This season has been very good to him as he has a 29-27 record. Even if it doesn’t look that impressive he did score a few important wins and has a trophy to his name.

He’s had winning records indoors in most years he played on the tour it’s expected that he finally finds some good form after the Metz disappointment.

The opponent is a solid challenge for him and a player that knows Mannarino really well, which makes it more complicated.

Lestienne’s Dream Season Continues

If you asked him whether he’d expect to be where he is today, Lestienne probably would say no but he’s certainly shown a lot of self-belief in this major breakout season. He started the year ranked outside of the top 200 but superb performances throughout the year have him ranked inside the top 70 of the world.

45-22 on the season simply shows how well he has played and there hasn’t been any drop recently either. He played in San Diego prior to this week and reached the quarterfinal with some impressive wins. Dan Evans proved better but that’s to be expected as he is the higher-ranked player.

The French player has played indoors earlier this year and he was excellent winning 12 of 18 matches he played there. It will be anything but an easy match for Mannarino and Lestienne will certainly believe he can win.

Knowing Mannarino’s game better than most should help as well.

Mannarino v Lestienne Prediction and Tip

I don’t see either player winning this in two simple sets. Yes, Mannarino is the better player and has played better indoors traditionally but Lestienne is in a better rhythm.

Both will fancy the victory but only will be able to get it. As I’m unsure about who will actually win I’ll back that we see three sets in the match.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
