Sloane Stephens v Magdalena Frech
Sloane Stephens returns to the courts in Parma and it will be a clash against Frech on clay. The American has played Frech in the past and she won that match easily 6-2 6-2. It was a long time ago as it happened at the 2018 French Open and her tennis has regressed quite a bit since then.
Frech has actually had a better season than Stephens posting a winning 30-28 record compared to the one of Stephens 13-14. The American hasn’t even played that much this year and she hasn’t played since the US Open either. The Polish player both played and won matches since the US Open so she will be in a better rhythm.
Stephens is favoured in this one but the odds are dropping on Frech which is interesting to note. I do expect her to put up a great fight against the American with a high chance of beating her as well. If you want to keep it safe perhaps you should opt to back her winning a set at least.
Tip: Frech to win a set – Yes: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Barbora Krejcikova v Ajla Tomljanovic
A fabulous matchup awaits us on the indoor hard courts of Tallinn where Barbore Krejcikova will take on Ajla TOmljanovic in the opening round of the event. It doesn’t get much better than this in round one as both players are really strong and capable players.
Both have a good serve and both like to attack so it’s perfect for an indoor showdown. They played once before and Tomljanovic won that match. It was earlier this year at Wimbledon and the Australian player is a far better grass player than Krejcikova.
Indoors might be a different story but Tomljanovic has also shown a far higher level overall this year. Krejcikvoa is not looking the same after her injury and I don’t think she’ll look that great here either. She might make it interesting but Tomljanovic would win it, even if in three.
Tip: Tomljanovic to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Anett Kontaveit v Xiyu Wang
Native player Anett Kontaveit will also play on day one of the event and she will take on Wang in round one. It’s an interesting matchup and the perfect chance for Kontaveit to get back on track after a run of poor results. The Estonian player had a crazy finish to the season last year dominating indoors so a lot of points are at stake.
The last time Kontaveit played was earlier this year at the US Open and since then it’s been a rest. It will be tricky to get back into the swing of things after such a long break but she’ll have the backing of the crowd so she should be really pumped for this one.
Wang is a solid player sho has had a solid year but she never played Kontaveit before. That can be troublesome because Anett brings a lot of power and fire to her game which can catch players off guard. She also did not play since the US Open so they will be on equal footing there.
That is why backing the over is a good idea as we might see them both struggle a bit.
