Dominic Thiem v Laslo Djere Head to Head
In their only previous meeting, it was Djere who had come away a winner at the 2019 Rio Open opening round match. Strangely, Djere had managed a straight-set win.

Thiem Knocked Out in Moselle Second Round
While Thiem did gain a few valuable ranking points, not to mention a lot of practice, by reaching the final of the Rennes Challenger, he followed it up with a second round exit at the Moselle Open that followed.
Starting out a second favourite against Richard Gasquet in the first round, Thiem carved out a straight-set win over the Frenchman but could not survive the Hubert Hurkacz challenge.
The Austrian player went down 6-3, 6-4, unable to withstand the Pole’s pedigree.
Thiem had earlier bowed out of the US Open, a title he had earlier won, in the first round, having made it to the third round at Winston Salem. All in all, his record at the ATP level this year has seen him win 10 and lose 12.
Can he add another win to his tally?

Djere Falls at Metz Qualifier
While Thiem was fortunate to get himself a wildcard and then reach the second round in Metz, Djere failed to make it through the qualifiers there. The world number 67 lost to Stan Wawrinka in the very first qualifier he played in that tournament.
This followed a 1-1 singles record in the Davis Cup for Serbia last week and an opening round exit at the US Open.
What makes these results slightly painful and difficult to endure is Djere had shown remarkable sparkle in the week before the season’s final major. The Serb had gone all the way through to the final in Winston-Salem where he fell to Adrian Mannarino.
He would know he has a chance against Thiem but can he come up with the goods at the right time?
Thiem v Djere Prediction and Tip
Thiem starts off a favourite with bookmakers offering 3/5 for his win but we believe that’s slightly short given his form issues. Can expect a three-setter or a gruelling two-set encounter here.
Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
