It has been a season to forget for the 26-year-old Pole Kamil Majchrzak as he begins his Sofia Open campaign with a tally of 14-13.
Moreover, he has dropped down in the singles ranking to the #118 spot – after reaching a career-high at 75th place in February this year.
That said, Kamil did find some solace in the Davis Cup most recently, where he helped Poland beat Indonesia by winning over the likes of Nathan Anthony Barki and Tegar Wibowo in straight sets, losing just one game in the two matches.
The result was preceded by a six-match losing streak – going all the way back to the Rosmalen Championships, where he registered his last ATP Tour win – beating Dominik Koepfer in the opener. Since then, Majchrzak lost his first-round bouts in ATP London, Wimbledon, ATP Winston Salem, US Open, and a Challenger event in Poland.
The last time he won successive matches on the tour was in the Pune Open, where was a semifinalist.

Berankis in a Similar Boat
Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania is navigating similar waters. His lacklustre form of late was negated by his two victories in the Davis Cup against the Egyptian contingent as he beat Amr Elsayed and Mohamed Safwat.
The 32-year-old did enjoy a more eventful time in North America before that; he reached the quarterfinal in the Vancouver Challenger and ATP Los Cabos. However, Berankis could not make it past the first round in the rest of the American events.
Now ranked World No. 123, not all has been dull and gloomy for Ricardas as he was the finalist in a Challenger event in Lille and a quarterfinalist in ATP Dubai. These results are still better than what Majchrzak delivered in 2022, although he is still 11-9 this season.
