Anett Kontaveit v Tereza Martincova
Anett Kontaveit is playing on her native soil and while the experience is one she dreamed of, things are not going that smooth on the court. She barely battled past Wang to set up this match and that match against the Chinse player had plenty of drama.
From bad play early to almost throwing away a 5-2 lead in the final set to a power outage on match point. It was a very tough match but Kontaveit survived. Things won’t be that easier against Martincova a very aggressive player who is capable of playing good tennis indoors.
Expect Kontaveit to likely be challenged here quite a bit and while she is expected to win it will be anything but easy. She will need to play consistently from the baseline because Martincova will hit the ball hard. I do think she’ll be able to pull through but the competitive match has some good bets to explore.
Tip: Kontaveit to win, Over 20.5 games: 11/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Novak Djokovic v Pablo Andujar
Novak Djokovic wasn’t supposed to play this match as his first in Tel Aviv but rather a doubles match on Wednesday. It got cancelled when his partner got injured in practice and that is why this will be his first match here. It’s not an ideal setup for the Serbian as he will need to adjust well to take out a fighter in Andujar.
Obviously, Djokovic is the huge favourite so the question is what is the value here. Well, his level at the Laver Cup was quite good and the surface is equally slow here. It’s not a surface where Andujar will be able to shorten his way out of a point and most rallies will be dictated by Djokovic.
Due to that, I expect him to cruise and cruise easily. The value lies in the under but be aware that Djokovic tends to start off events slow and then peak later on. There is risk because the line is fairly low at 17,5 but I think it’s worth a try. Andujar never had a good time against Djokovic.
Tip: Under 17.5 games : 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Jannik Sinner v Nuno Borges
Defending champion Jannik Sinner returns to Sofia to try and win the event for the 3rd time in his career. Sinner won his first career trophy in Sofia and ever since then he’s been coming back to the event and this year he’ll try to win for the 3rd time.
A decent challenge waits in Nuno Borges, a player who slowly but surely made his way to the ATP Tour after playing on the Challenger Tour. These conditions are not conditions he is used to but he is grateful the court is a bit slower than indoors generally.
Borges has a good serve and likes to attack so he will trade blows with Sinner without fear. The Italian is the absolute favourite but I expect a fairly close match here as some struggling from Sinner is to be expected until he finds a very good rhythm.
