World No. 14 Pablo Carreno Busta, who received a first round bye, will make his Sofia Open debut in the second round on Thursday.
The second seed will be playing for the first time since making a fourth round exit from the U.S. Open. It has been a pretty good year for the 31-year-old Spaniard, who landed his maiden ATP 1000 title at the Canadian Open.
Carreno Busta, who was also a finalist in Barcelona this year, lifted his seventh career title from a 12th final by beating Hubert Hurkacz in the Montreal final.
He is 31-19 overall this season and 18-7 on hard courts. Apart from the two finals, he also made it to the final four in Bastad and the quarterfinals in Halle.
If he wins his first match in Sofia he will be headed to a fifth quarterfinal of the season.

Huesler Ousts Qualifier
World no. 95 Marc-Andrea Huesler ousted French qualifier Geoffrey Blancaneaux in straight sets in the first round on Wednesday.
The Swiss saved the only break point that he faced in the match and converted 2 of 2 to win the one-hour-and-36-minute contest 6-4, 6-4.
Huesler, who reached the semifinals at the Winston-Salem Open this year, will be looking to enter a second quarterfinal of the season on Thursday.
He improved his season record to 6-8 on the tour and 40-24 overall. He has been most successful on clay, winning two Challenger titles on the surface.
But his best on the tour came on hard at Winston Salem not too long ago.
