Cressy Eases His Way Back into Action

Cressy had not played a competitive match since being forced to retire from his first round meeting at the US Open against Marton Fucsovics of Hungary through injury.

Cressy struck first with an early break, and then saved three break points himself before going on take the first set,

Korda saved three break points in the opening game of the second set, but, when another break point came along eight games later, he was not so lucky.

Second Successive Quarter-Final for Lestienne

A classic case of a late bloomer, Lestienne has had to wait until passing 30 before reaching his highest singles ranking, based primarily on his form on the Challenger tour, where he has appeared in five finals this year, winning three of them.

He reached his first ever ATP quarter-final in San Diego last week, and now he has repeated the feat in Israel.

His week began with an all-French battle with compatriot Adrian Mannarino, which Lestienne won in straight sets.

Then in the second round on Thursday, he played the Finn  Emil Ruusuvouri, the world number 54.

The match did not start well for Lestienne, who was broken in the opening game, and, although he had break back opportunities in the next game, could not take them.

However, he did manage to break back later in the second and then completed the comeback with another break to claim the first set,

The second set went with serve until the sixth game when Ruusuvouri dropped his serve once more. Lestienne was able to close out the match from there with no further difficulties.

Cressy v Lestienne Prediction and Tip

Cressy is the higher ranked of the pair and has much more experience on the senior tour, two factors which suggest that he will be the one to progress through to the last four.
