Holger Rune v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head
This will be a first meeting between the two players.

After battling past the Netherlands’ Tim van Rijthoven in the opening round, Holger Rune put up another gutsy show in Thursday, fighting back from a break down to defeat last week’s Moselle Open champion Lorenzo Sonego in the second round.
Th 19-year-old Dane was outplayed by the Italian in the first set tiebreak but he found his way back into the match, by clinching the second set with a solitary break in the final game.
Rune also got the only break of the third set in the eighth game before holding on to a 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 6-3 victory.
The two hour and 18 minute contest saw Rune win 85% points (44 of 52) on his first serve. He wasn’t broken by Sonego in the match and he struck 38 winners to the Italian’s 28 to progress to the last eight.
The World no. 31, who won his maiden ATP title in Munich this year and was a quarterfinalist at the French Open, will be looking to reach a third tour-level semifinal on Friday. He had also made it to the final four in Lyon.
Rune had begun his Sofia campaign with a 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (8-6) victory over Van Rijthoven.

Ivashka Upsets Dimitrov
Playing in his first tournament since making a fourth round appearance at the U.S. Open, Belarus’ Ilya Ivashka continued the good work in Sofia as he knocked out the third seed and 2017 champion Grigor dimitrov in the second round on Wednesday.
Ivashka had begun his campaign with a 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 7-5 win over Sweden’s Mikael Ymer in the opening round. That match had lasted for three hours and 23 minutes.
The Belarusian needed only an hour and 52 minutes to dispatch the Bulgarian 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) in the second round.
Ivashka saved all seven of the break points that he faced on the match and converted 2 of 7 to take down the third seed. While he had made 42 unforced errors in the match against Ymer, he will be happy to have made just 10 against Dimitrov.
A semifinalist in Atlanta this year, Ivashka is aiming to reach the final four for the second time in 2022.
Rune v Ivashka Prediction and Tip
While Rune has had better numbers on clay over his young career, Ivashka has preferred playing on hard courts. But Rune has shown signs that he can produce wins consistently on the surface and the two tough wins are a testament to that. Expect a good contest, with Rune edging past Ivashka.
