Fritz v Duckworth Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these players and rather surprisingly, Duckworth has won them both. One came at the Challenger level in 2016 but more vitally the second was in Toronto last year where Duckworth stormed through to a straight-set victory.

Fritz Hoping to Get Back to Consistent Ways
Let’s be very clear, Fritz is in the form of his life this season and has risen to world number 11 – his best ever ranking. In more recent times, however, Fritz has faced results he might not have expected though, and that’s where the consistency factor might come in for the American as he becomes more experienced.
Since that quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon where he all but took Rafael Nadal out, Fritz has had a solid showing in Cincinnati where he made the quarterfinal again but not too much elsewhere.
A win and a loss at Washington and a third round exit at Montreal were followed by a shock first round exit at the US Open. More recently he also fell to two losses from three Davis Cup matches which might have added a bit of concern.
Can he turn things around in Tokyo?

Duckworth Coming off San Diego Quarterfinals
A finalist at the Cassis Challenger, Duckworth made it to the quarterfinal of the San Diego Open two weeks ago. Wins over Mitchell Krueger and Alexei Popyrin would have worked well before Marcos Giron got the better of him in the last eight.
That was his first quarterfinal appearance since his Newport Open performance.
What’s interesting to note here is that Duckworth’s best ranking is 46th in the world which came earlier this season. Since then however, his form has dropped and so has his ranking which is now at 109th on the ATP charts.
Can Duckworth now pose a bigger challenge to his 11th-ranked opponent?
Fritz v Duckworth Prediction and Tip
Fritz will start off at 3/20 to win this and it looks like the most likely result. Even a straight-set win for Fritz despite his recent issues.
Tip: Fritz to win in straight sets: 2/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
