Dan Evans v Radu Albot Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players and Evans leads 3-1 on head to head.

Albot had won their first ever match-up in Delray Beach in 2019 – in the final no less! – but since then Evans has defeated his Moldovan opponent in Eastbourne, Atlanta and the ATP Cup.

Evans Hoping to Reverse Seoul Ouster

In the end, Evans might not feel too bad about losing his first round encounter at the Korea Open last week because it came against Yoshihito Nishioka.

It was Nishioka, who went on to win the title there, with wins over the likes of Casper Ruud and Denis Shapovalov, so the Evans defeat might not have been that much of a surprise.

That said, however, Evans will hope he can reverse some of his recent form which has seen him unable to win three successive matches in a tournament too many times this year.

In fact since the first time he played at the ATP Cup in January where he won all three of his singles matches, Evans has done that just once in all of 2022 – it came at Montreal in August – and that’s an indicator of how his form has petered away.

Evans will hope to start things off with a solid showing here.

Albot Showing Recent Form

Once a top-40 player, Albot has fallen to 91st in the world at the moment but in more recent times has shown some of his old spark.

He featured in the Istanbul Challenger last month, a title he went on to win after having been a semifinalist at the Chicago Challenger about a month before that. And he followed that up with a couple of rounds of wins in Seoul last week before Denis Shapovalov got the better of him in the quarterfinals.

In fact, that 6-2, 6-2 defeat to Shapovalov was one of his rare disappointing showings in recent times.

Now, Albot takes on Evans whose form has been a tad dodgy, which could lead to an interesting encounter here.

Evans v Albot Prediction and Tip

While Albot is 23/10 to win this, we reckon he might have a chance to scoop off at least a set here given his own form and his opponent’s recent struggles.
