Frances Tiafoe v Soon-woo Kwon Head to Head
While they have never faced off at the highest level, they did meet in the 2020 Olympics (played in 2021) and Tiafoe had won that first round match in straight sets.

Tiafoe Blasts Kecmanovic Out
Having not had too many difficulties in his first couple of rounds, Tiafoe continued to exhibit the same sparkle as he took down Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarterfinal.
In a match that lasted a mere hour and 10 minutes, Tiafoe carved out a 6-0, 6-4 victory over his Serbian opponent to march into his second successive semifinal. He had earlier made it to the US Open semis as well in the lead-up to this tournament.
Tiafoe was quick off the blocks as he broke Kecmanovic in the very first game of the encounter and very soon added two more breaks of serves to grab the set in 26 minutes.
The same script seemed to be repeated in the second set when Tiafoe went 2-0 up but from there on, Kecmanovic managed to hold on to his serves. Tiafoe also faced a couple of break-points in the sixth game but held on and then served out the match very soon after that.
Can Tiafoe now make it to his fifth career ATP final?

Kwon Outclasses Martinez
Korea’s Kwon was the favourite going into his quarterfinal against Pedro Martinez but not too many would have expected him to coast to the next round in the manner that he did.
After Kwon had entered the tournament having last made an ATP semifinal in Astana last September – more than a year ago.
So for him to carve out a 6-3, 6-0 win in an hour and 22 minutes over an opponent ranked more than 50 places above him would have been a bit of a surprise. Kwon broke Martinez five times while himself facing just one break-point and saving it easily.
It was his ability to get his second serve going that helped Kwon no end. He won 65% of those points to go with nearly 80% of the first serve points.
Against an in-form Tiafoe though, Kwon will need to show the kind of form he had in his first round win over Alex De Minaur.
Tiafoe v Kwon Prediction and Tip
Tiafoe will be a heavy favourite here and should face no issue getting past Kwon in straight sets.
