Baez Currently Enduring a Slump
Baez has been three times a finalist in 2022, winning in Estoril and finishing runner-up in Chile and Stockholm.
One thing is those three tournaments had in common was that they were staged on clay, an indication where the strengths of the Argentine’s game lie.
Since reaching that final in Sweden, though, he has been on a terrible run, and has lost his last six individual matches, although, he had to retire injured from his opening round clash at the US Open with the eventual champion, Carlos Alcaraz.
Nor did switching to the Davis Cup with Argentina bring any respite. He lost all three ties he played.

Late Bloomer Lestienne
Lestienne has left it relatively late in his career to make an impact on the senior tour, but, having appeared in five Challenger finals this year, and won five of them, he finds himself, at the age of 30, threatening to break into the top 50 by the end of the season for the first time.
In San Diego at the end of September, he reached his first ever quarter-final, before he was eventually beaten by Dan Evans.
And, in Tel Aviv, he went one better, and got through to the last four, before he went down to Marin Cilic in straight sets.
He will be looking to keep his run going in Gijon.
Baez v Lestienne Prediction and Tip
Although Baez is the higher ranked and seeded player, he is in poor form right now, whereas Lestienne is enjoying a strong end to what has already been a very good season for him. He can be confident of maintaining his run in Spain.
Tip: Lestienne to win: 5/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
