Paula Badosa v Louisa Chirico Head to Head
In their only previous meeting that came at the 2022 Wimbledon, Badosa had had no issues in getting past Chirico in the first round.

While Badosa would have liked to go beyond her fourth round appearance at Wimbledon earlier this year, little would she have known that would be followed by such a wretched run that it would have made that Wimbledon showing look crave-worthy.
Because in the nine matches that have followed for Badosa, the Spaniard has won just three matches spread across six tournaments. In her last seven matches, she has won just one.
More recently, following first round byes at both Tokyo and Ostrava, Badosa lost the second round matches to Qinwen Zheng and Petra Kvitova respectively. In fact her only win over these seven matches against Lesia Tsurenko, who was a whopping second-favourite at 9/2 to win that, Badosa had struggled to get moving.
Now coming up against a player ranked just inside the top 200, Badosa will hope to break her three-match losing streak.

Chirico Stuns Riske in Comeback Win
Alison Riske’s form has been anything but one to savour and yet, Chirico wasn’t quite expected to make any inroads in her opening round encounter against her fellow American.
What followed was things going to script as Riske eased to a first set win and when she took a 4-0 lead in the second set, it seemed all over bar the shouting.
Instead Chirico stormed into the second round from that point on as she broke Riske thrice in the set and then overcame two more breaks of serves in the deciding set. In the deciding tie-breaker that followed, Chirico clinched the encounter off her second match-point.
The euphoria of a win like that would hold Chirico in a solid stead, especially against a player who has rarely tasted any kind of success in recent times.

It is not much of a surprise that Badosa is a 1/5 favourite here but given what’s transpired in recent history, we could be looking at a huge tussle this which sees Chirico win a set at the very least.
