Jessica Pegula v Coco Vandeweghe Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the Charleston Open held earlier this year on clay and Vandeweghe was a surprise winner in that one.

Consistency has been the name of the game for Pegula, who returns to competitive tennis after being away for more than a month.
The last time Pegula took to court in a tournament, she had reached the last eight stage at the US Open where she overcame Petra Kvitova before losing to the eventual winner Iga Swiatek.
Earlier this season, Pegula had reached the quarterfinal at both, the Australian Open and French Open as well. A semifinalist at the Toronto Open competition, Pegula has won 21 and lost 11 of her matches on hard court surfaces.

Vandeweghe Makes it Past Kenin
Having gotten bundled out in the first round at the US Open, Vandeweghe returned to tennis with a solid showing in her opener against Sofia Kenin.
While Vandeweghe needed three sets, she was on court for an hour and 45 minutes to carve out a 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 win over her American counterpart. A former Grand Slam winner, Kenin has struggled for form in recent times and Vandeweghe took full toll of that as she broke her twice and saved the only break-point of the set she faced to take the lead.
Kenin retaliated with two breaks of her own in the second set while saving one break-point to push it to the decider.
It was Vandeweghe who lost her serve to kick things off before coming back to break her opponent twice and carve out a victory.
