Andrey Rublev v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two, both of which came on the indoor hardcourt surface of St. Petersburg. In the first, Rublev had been taken to three sets in 2019 before winning 6-4, 6-4 in the 2021 edition.

Rublev Returns after Astana Semis

A quarterfinals at the US Open, Rublev looked to have continued to kick on with the same form as he stormed into the semifinal of the Astana Open without breaking into a sweat.

Till that semifinal encounter against Stefanos Tsitsipas, he had played three matches and lost not more than four games in any of the six sets played. And that too just once.

He looked to have established the same kind of start against Tsitsipas too as he pouched the first set 6-4 but the Greek number one came back to win it in three.

Rublev, who is a three-time tournament winner this season, including one indoors, will hope to return back to his usual immoveable self against the 70th-ranked Ivashka.

Ivashka Scrapes Past Lopez

In his final season as a tennis player, Feliciano Lopez showed he still has the wherewithal to take on guys like Ivashka but in the end, those aging legs gave way to the world number 70’s relative youth.

Ivashka won a fighting three-setter in two hours and 21 minutes, overcoming the loss of a second set tie-breaker to clinch the decider 6-4.

In fact Ivashka looked to have messed things up in the final set too, after failing to serve it out at 5-3 but then got himself a match-point on Lopez’s serve next game, which he gleefully took.

Ivashka has, however, been in good form otherwise too, with a fourth round appearance at the US Open and quarterfinals in Sofia. Can he put up a fight against Rublev?

Rublev v Ivashka Prediction and Tip

Rublev is 1/3 to win this which seems to be par for the course given his opponent’s solidity but the bigger question is if he can do this in two. We think so.

Tip: Rublev to win in straight sets: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
