Dan Evans v Tallon Griekspoor Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came at the Davis Cup tie between Britain and Netherlands earlier this year and Evans had won that in straight sets.

Evans 4-4 in Last Eight Matches

While a win-loss record of 4-4 over the last eight matches might not read too poorly for Evans, he would have loved to do a lot better than that as a 25th-ranked player.

More recently, Evans is also coming off a three-set defeat in the second round of the Tokyo Open, losing to Miomir Kecmanovic despite being 4/5 to win it.

Earlier, he had lost in the first round of the Korea Open following a semifinal appearance at the San Diego Open late last month.

The Montreal Masters semifinalist had earlier not had the best of starts to the season as well, and will hope he can at least end it on a high.

In Griekspoor, Evans has an opponent who hasn’t won too much in recent times and it could be a huge plus as a result.

Griekspoor on a Five-Match Losing Streak

If one excludes the Davis Cup from the season, Griekspoor is on a bit of a losing streak having not won a main draw match spread across five encounters.

Griekspoor last victory had come in the Winston-Salem Open as a lucky loser when he overcame Taro Daniel to enter the second round. Since then, however, he has lost the second round at that tournament, and followed it up with opening round defeats at US Open, Tel Aviv, Astana and Florence.

What the Dutchman will be particularly worried about is these losses haven’t quite come against players of high pedigree.

Other than Botic van de Zandschulp, the defeats have been against the likes of Vasek Pospisil and Aslan Karatsev, both of whom were second favourites going into the encounter.

Can Griekspoor now reverse this showing against a player who has himself struggled in recent times.

Evans v Griekspoor Prediction and Tip

Evans starts off a 2/5 favourite to clinch this and will be 1/1 to do that in straight sets. Against a player struggling for any of form, we will be backing a straight-set win for the the Brit.

Tip: Evans to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
