Emil Ruusuvouri v Joao Sousa Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before, and that was in the final in Pune in February, Sousa winning in three sets.

Although that defeat at the Maharashtra Open remains the closest that Ruusuvouri has come to enjoying main tour success, it has been a solid year for the Finn, and he has hopes of finishing the year inside the top 50, having briefly broken into it after reaching the last eight at the Queen’s Club Championship.
More recently he reached the quarter-finals in Washington, but, subsequent to that, he has struggled to get beyond the second round stage of the tournaments he has entered.
That was the case in Astana two weeks ago, the last time he was in competitive action. He beat Marc-Andre Huesler in his opening match but then was beaten in straight sets by the former world number one Daniil Medvedev.

Sousa Struggling for Form
Despite a challenge this season from Nuno Borges, Sousa seems destined to finish again the top ranked Portuguese player, with that win in India the fourth senior title of his career,
He also reached the final on the clay of Geneva three months later, but lost a three set battle to Casper Ruud.
However, since that performance in Switzerland, his form has dipped, and he has only won three matches on the main tour since, two of them on clay.
In fact, his last singles’ win dates back to the first round of the US Open.
Subsequent to that he failed to progress beyond the opening round in Moselle, Tel Aviv and, last week, in Gijon.

Although the Portuguese won their final in Pune, Ruusuvouri will want revenge and, based on current form, will start favourite to get it.
