Cristian Garin has won just one match in the last five tournaments and that win came in the first round of the U.S. Open.
The Chilean is on a three-match losing streak, and most recently he suffered a first round defeat to Alexander Bublik in Florence last week.
The World no. 81 has mostly been quiet this season, but had a great run in Wimbledon, reaching his first major quarterfinal. Some of Garin’s other notable performances this season included a semifinal finish in Houston and a quarterfinal finish in Rome.
But apart from the three tournaments, Garin has suffered more losses than scoring victories as a result of which he is 17-20 this season.
He has also seen a constant decline in the rankings this year. After starting the season as a top 20 player, the 26-year-old is now struggling to stay in the top 100.

Kubler Comes Through Qualifiers
Facing Garin is another player who impressed at the Wimbledon this year: Australia’s Jason Kubler came through the qualifiers and then won three consecutive main draw matches to reach the last 16 in what was his best-ever result at a Grand Slam.
The 29-year-old has now qualified for the Stockholm Open. Over the weekend, Kubler defeated Sweden’s Jonathan Mridha 6-2, 6-3 and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Damir Dzumhur 6-3, 7-6 in the two qualifying rounds respectively.
The World no. 103 is 11-8 on the tour but 49-18 overall this season. He has featured in two Challenger finals this season, winning one and losing one. He has also played in two other lower level finals, winning both of them.
Following his Wimbledon exploits, Kubler was a semifinalist in Newport but hasn’t won consecutive matches since then. He last played in San Diego, retiring in the first round.

Despite being in poor form recently, Garin will be the favourite. He is the more experienced of the two at this level, plus he will be desperate not to slip further in the rankings. Expect the Chilean to end the losing streak on Monday.
