Munar Struggling on Hard Courts
A solid clay court player, Jaume Munar tends to struggle on hard and that’s precisely why the Spaniard has won just three main draw matches from his last seven tournaments.
Those three wins came in the first rounds in Winston-Salem, Seoul (through a walkover after just three games in the match) and Tokyo. Out of those three, the win in Japan mattered the most because it came against the World no. 3 Casper Ruud and that too in straight sets. Munar fell in the second round in Tokyo and then lost in the first round in Gijon last week.
While his recent form may be a cause of worry, he has an overall record of 45-27 this year, and that includes two Challenger titles on his preferred surface—the clay.
The 25-year-old is 18-23 on the tour this year and his best results were quarterfinal finishes in Melbourne and Gstaad.
It will be interesting to see if he continues to struggle on hard or will his fortunes change in Antwerp.

Van Rijthoven Qualifies for the Main Draw
Tim van Rijthoven is into the main draw in Antwerp following back-to-back straight set victories over Denis Yevseyev and Alexander Erler in the first and second qualifying rounds respectively.
This is the second straight ATP tournament that the Dutchman has qualified for. Last week he had made it to the main draw in Florence, but he went down in straight sets in the first round.
Van Rijthoven shot to fame on grass this year, as he put up an extraordinary display in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, going on to win his maiden title, by beating some of the best players in the world, including Taylor Fritz, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev (in the final).
He continued that form at Wimbledon, winning the first three rounds on his Grand Slam debut, before falling to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal.
His recent form hasn’t been good, but he has done well on hard courts earlier this year, and is 26-15 on the surface this year, but most of those wins have come at the lower level tournaments.
Munar v Van Rijthoven Prediction and Tip
This is a difficult game to call. Munar is the more experienced player at the top level, but he lacks the experience on hard courts. Van Rijthoven has been very successful of hard courts this year, but all those wins have come at the Challenger level. Three sets seem imminent with the more experienced Munar edging out the qualifier.
Tip: Munar to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
