He was ranked 237th in the world in January this year but such has been Lestienne’s performance in the rest of the year, he has now climbed up the charts and broken into the top 70 of the rankings.
The initial rise was down to his performances on the Challenger circuit where he won three titles but in more recent times, Lestienne has been able to reproduce that same showing at the highest level too.
More recently, he made the quarterfinal of the San Diego Open, and the second round at Gijon but his best performance came in Tel Aviv. There, Lestienne overcame Adrian Mannarino, Emil Ruusuvuori and Maxime Cressy to make the last four stage.
And now starting out against a qualifier, Lestienne will have a good chance of making it four successive tournaments of winning at least a round.

de Jong Playing Just His Second Match
Earlier this year, de Jong made his ATP main draw debut in Rosmalen and while he gave a good account of himself, he went down in straight sets to Jenson Brooksby.
Since then, the 22-year-old Dutchman has been a part of the Challengers and Futures circuit but not quite qualified to feature at the highest level. That’s before the start of this tournament that is.
Here in Antwerp, de Jong has been able to overcome both his qualifying opponents for the first time in his career to make the main draw.
He needed three sets against Yannick Mertens to get through before rolling past Manuel Guinard in straight sets to make it through. Can he now open his win account?
