On its own, a win-loss record of 5-4 over the past four tournaments doesn’t look too off the mark but when you consider the fact Hurkacz is a world number 11, he would surely love to do better than that.
Hurkacz was sent packing in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters and then again shocked at the same stage of the US Open to end his US Open Series campaign with a whimper. This was after he was a finalist at the Montreal Masters and showed a lot of promise there.
More recently, Hurkacz has managed to win a couple of rounds at both, the Metz Open and Astana Open but should have probably done a lot better than that.
Especially at the former where he lost to Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets.
Now, he faces a very tricky challenge in the form of the 48th-ranked player from Britain who has shown what he is capable of in recent times. Can he make it past Draper?

Draper Destroys Brooksby
In a match lasting just 61 minutes, Draper sent American Jenson Brooksby packing from his first round encounter.
The Brit routed Brooksby 6-1, 6-2 to seal his place in the second round after having returned to competitive tennis following his third round appearance at the US Open.
Such was Draper’s dominance that he won 20 of his 21 first serve points and lost just five points overall on serve in the entire match. No surprises then that he faced no break-points and in turn, found a way to break his opponent’s serve four times – twice in each of the two sets.
It isn’t like Brooksby is a pushover with bookmakers offering 8/11 for the American to win it actually.
Draper’s confidence and form, however, seems like it’s getting too hot to handle for most of his opponent.

Again, Hurkacz starts off a favourite at 4/6 but at 6/5, Draper’s odds to win this sound too delicious to pass. Going for a win for the Brit here.
