Holger Rune v Cristian Garin Head to Head
Their only previous outing came at the Belgrade Open this year and Rune had won that in straight sets to make it to the second round.

He was always a favourite going into his opening round encounter against Thiago Monteiro and while it took him time to get going, once Rune had found his mojo, he eased his way past his opponent in straight sets.
The Dane was on court for an hour and 21 minutes for his 7-5, 6-2 win over Monteiro as he withstood some strong serving from his opponent before finding a way past his opponent.
There were no breaks of serves in the first 10 games of the match before Rune found a way past Monteiro’s serves in the 11th. He quickly served out the set, and then broke his opponent in the third and seventh game to win it.
Rune will now hope he can do something similar against a player who is a clay-court specialist.

Garin Overcomes Kubler
A clay-court specialist and a player struggling for form, Garin looked to have found his sweet spot in the first round here in Stockholm.
In an opening encounter lasting an hour and 36 minutes, Garin carved out a 6-2, 6-4 win over the 3/5 favourite Jason Kubler to make it to the round of 16.
Facing – and saving – three break-points in the entire encounter, Garin dished out three breaks of serves from the four opportunities he got to find himself a win. This came after Garin had lost his last three matches and six of the last seven.
Now, playing against Rune who has shown some remarkable form in recent times, Garin will need to do as well as he did in round one to hold a chance.

Rune might be a touch wary the way Garin played against Kubler but should still come through in straight sets and move to the quarterfinals.
