Paula Badosa v Victoria Azarenka Head to Head
The record stands at 1-1; they last met in the 2022 Adelaide 500 where Azarenka won in straight sets.

Badosa, Fighting for the WTA Finals Spot
Paula Badosa, currently ranked #11 in the race to the WTA Finals, needs a good run here if she wants to compete in Texas.
Her chances could have been better had she won the fiercely-contested affair with Danielle Collins last week in the San Diego quarterfinals, but here we are. Badosa has struggled a fair bit in her last few tournaments on the tour; in fact, she has not won more than two matches in a tournament since the Wimbledon Championships.
The 24-year-old Spaniard is 4-7 in her last seven competitions.
That said, Paula had a good time in the first half of the season when she won the Sydney International and reached the concluding rounds in Indian Wells, Miami, Charleston, and Stuttgart.
She also peaked at the No. 2 spot in the singles ranking in April.

Azarenka Moves Past Avanesyan
Unlike the top seed Badosa who enjoyed a bye into round two, Victoria Azarenka had to start her journey with a straight-set win over Elina Avanesyan.
The 33-year-old Belarusian is currently ranked World No. 37 and is coming off an easy few weeks. Following her fourth-round exit in the US Open, she competed only in Ostrava (loss to Ekaterina Alexandrova in round one) before arriving in Mexico.
Azarenka is 21-12 this season with her prominent results, including mid-stage stints in the Australian Open, Rome Open, Madrid Open, and French Open.
She hasn’t won a title in over two years now and this season, she has been more or less on the underwhelming side with late-round appearances.
Can she ignite a late comeback in Guadalajara?
Badosa v Azarenka Prediction and Tip
As a former #1 with multiple major finals, Azarenka’s chances of toppling Badosa cannot be ignored. An upset is on the cards but as things stand, Paula will start as the odds-on favourite. Expect a cracking affair.
