Shapovalov Showing a Good Sequence of Results

Shapovalov’s form looked to have tapered off in the middle of the season but in more recent times, he looks to have found himself some rhythm.

The Canadian, who had a first round bye in this tournament, is coming off two solid performances at the Korea Open and Japan Open. In Seoul, Shapovalov rolled into the final with three successive straight-set wins before Yoshihito Nishioka got the better of him in the title-decider.

He won three matches in a row yet again at Tokyo to get to the semifinal before going down in a fighting in a three-setter to Taylor Fritz.

The signs of a resurrection were there at both, the Cincinnati Masters and US Open, where while he was sent out in the third rounds, those defeats to Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev were in matches he gave it his all.

Can Shapovalov continue that same vein of form here?

Bellier Overcomes Fellow Qualifier

In what became a one-sided opening round encounter between two qualifiers, Bellier disposed off Alexander Shevchenko in straight sets to make it to the second round. This is only the second time this season that Bellier has won the opening round match in an ATP event.

Having surprised a few with his semifinal appearance at Mallorca – also as a qualifier – Bellier registered a 6-4, 6-2 win over Shevchenko in the opener here.

Bellier was broken once apiece in both sets, but didn’t seem too affected by that. In the first, it came after he had already pocketed a break while in the second, he was down 0-2 as a result of it but went on to win six games in a row to clinch the encounter.

Things could get a tad bit tougher against Shapovalov but Bellier looks like he enjoys these fast courts and could find himself with an outside chance.

Shapovalov v Bellier Prediction and Tip

Shapovalov is a whopping 1/8 to win this which has no value in it. We think there could be a bit of scuffle here and the match might see more than 20.5 games (5/6 with bet365). If you want to take a bigger risk, there’s an option for Bellier to win a set (at 7/4 with bet365).

Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
