World no. 23 Alex de Minaur needed just an hour and 16 minutes to down Benjamin Bonzi in straight sets on Tuesday.
The Aussie was in command throughout the match. He didn’t face a single break point, while he broke Bonzi twice in each set to produce a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
De Minaur, who won his sixth career title and the first of the year at the Atlanta Open, improved his season record to 41-21.
Among his other accomplishments this year, he made his fourth round debut at the Australian Open and Wimbledon and also made it to the semifinals in Barcelona, Lyon and Eastbourne.
Tuesday’s win was his 25th on hard courts this season. It’s the surface he loves to play on and his best performance of the year also came on it, when he defeated Jenson Brooksby to clinch his second Atlanta Open title.
De Minaur’s recent form has been good and the World no. 23 is expected to reach the quarterfinals for a sixth time in 2022.

Wolf Brings Florence Form to Stockholm
After a stunning performance in Florence last week, where he reached the maiden ATP final of his career only to finish runner-up to Felix Auger-Aliassime, J.J. Wolf made a solid start in Stockhom, defeating Alex Molcan in straight sets in the opening round on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old, who moved up 19 places in the rankings to a career-high of no. 56 this week, needed an hour and 45 minutes to dismiss the Slovakian.
After conceding an early break, Wolf broke back immediately and then again in the final game of the first set to lead by a set to love. The world no. 47 was the first to break in the second set as well, going up 3-4, but the American hit back, winning three games on the trot and wrapping up the contest 7-5, 6-4.
Wold served 12 aces and won 79% points on his first serve. he also saved 6 of 8 break points, while converting 4 of 11.
Wolf improved to 15-11 in 2022. In addition to his Florence accomplishment, he was also a quarterfinalist in Washington.

Despite Wolf’s current form, De Mianur is the favourite to win the contest. He is stronger of the two in terms of past performances and far more experienced at this level. Wolf may challenge, but the Aussie should edge through.
