Second seed Matteo Berrettini overcome a difficult start to register a comeback win over Mackenzie McDonald in the Napoli Cup semifinal on Saturday.
The Italian struggled with his serve early, with McDonald breaking twice and building a 5-0 lead in the first set. Berrettini came back by winning three games in a row, but he couldn’t get another break, going down in the first set.
In the second set, the world no. 16 went up a break twice, but on both the occasions, the American came back. However, the Italian dominated the tiebreak to level the match one-set apiece.
Berrettini lifted his game in the final set and finished the match by winning the last four games in a row to take the two-hour-and-25-minute match 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3.
The seven-time tour-level champion will be featuring in a 12th final. Berrettini won two titles this year in Stuttgart and Queen’s and finished runner-up in Gstaad. He had begun his Naples campaign with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Roberto Carballés Baena in the second round and had beaten Taro Daniel 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinal.

Musetti Dumps Out Kecmanovic
Fourth seed Lorenzo Musetti won a third consecutive match in straight sets to advance to a second tour-level final of his career.
The 20-year-old had earlier this year reached his first final in Hamburg, where he won the title by beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
Musetti, who is currently sitting on a career-high ranking of 24, had reached back-to-back semifinals in his last two tournaments in Sofia and Florence, but he made it past the final four stage this week with a convincing straight sets win over Miomir Kecmanovic.
After being broken in the third game of the first set, Musetti won the next four games in a row to surge ahead before claiming the opening set. He was the only one to get a break in the second set as he eased to a 6-3, 6-4 win in a hour and 30 minutes.
Musetti, who conceded just one break in the semifinal against the Serb, had not been broken in the previous two matches. He saved two of two break points against Laslo Djere in the second round and saved seven of seven against Daniel Elahi Galán in the quarterfinals.

Berrettini’s experience, particularly in later stages of tournaments, gives him the edge. Expect the younger pro to put up a fight but the second seed is expected to win the title.
