Andrey Rublev v Diego Schwartzman
A very interesting matchup awaits us in round one of the Vienna Open. Andrey Rublev takes on Diego Schwartzman in a matchup that looks as one-sided as it can get. The last time Rublev played was in Gijon and he bulldozed his way to the trophy.
We could see something similar and while it’s a great field, Rublev is playing some of the best tennis he has played all year long. Schwartzman on the other hand has not played very well lately and he lost a couple of matches to players that are far worse than Rublev.
Schwartzman has traditionally been rather solid indoors albeit not that great. Rublev has been one of the best indoor players in recent years having won multiple trophies on that surface. He’s also gathering points for Turin so expect him to be at his best here. Easy win in two sets.
Tip: Rublev to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Dominic Thiem v Tommy Paul
Dominic Thiem and Tommy Paul are a very interesting matchup as both players are rather good indoors. Both also have a pretty good approach to the sport so they rarely produce lacklustre efforts. Paul is far more impatient and aggressive and expects him to bring that heat to this one.
Generally speaking, Thiem has been quite good lately with an excellent week in Antwerp. It remains to be seen how well he’ll play back home because he has produced some very lacklustre matches back home in Vienna. He is the slight favourite here and it’s mostly due to how poorly Paul played in Stockholm.
I think Thiem is the better player obviously and has looked better far better in recent weeks indoors. He’s serving well and looking very sharp physically and that’s something that can prove a factor as well. Overall I think him winning the match offers good value.
Tip: Thiem to win match : 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Carlos Alcaraz v Jack Draper
Another brilliant matchup waits for us in Basel with Alcaraz taking on Draper. The Spaniard has not played since Astana and he was largely disappointed in that one. Draper surprised many last week in Antwerp and I do expect him to play some more good tennis.
The only reason he lost to Hurkacz was his getting cramps that he was unable to shake off with massages. This match is a good chance for Draper to upset Alcaraz although I would not advise playing that. Any combination of keeping the match close with many games has tremendous value.
If you’re feeling adventurous you can back the Brit but I’ll take the over. He’s very hard to break and Alcaraz should be able to win his service games as well. I don’t feel comfortable backing Draper after seeing him betrayed by his body once more.
Tip: Over 21.5 games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
