Rublev Hoping for Turin Qualification

Andrey Rublev has been playing really strong tennis lately and that’s because he is battling for a spot at the ATP Finals in Turin. He played well in Astana but lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-final. He played in Gijon after that reaching the final and beating Sebastian Korda in the final easily.

He now looks to Vienna for a chance to earn some more points for Turin and he’s got a pretty good raw to start. Diego Schwartzman is not a player that will strike fear into Rublev because the Russian has defeated him twice in three matches.

His only loss came a couple of years ago on clay and he’s become much better since then. I do expect him to play well here and take Schwartzman apart in two simple sets.

He’s the far better player, is playing much better and the moment and does well indoors.

Schwartzman Waiting for Season to End

Diego Schwartzman is not enjoying playing tennis at the moment as he’s lost several matches easily in the past few weeks. He was in London for the Laver Cup and got torn apart by Tsitsipas. After that, he was beaten by Arthur Rinderkench in round one of Tel Aviv.

Then he lost to David Goffin in Antwerp and that event has been one of the best indoor events for him traditionally. His last win was over Alexei Popyrin on September 1st. He’s not won in two months and I really don’t think he’s going to change that against Rublev.

It’s been a tricky year for him and far from his best with clay tennis disappointing as well for him. The record overall is 32-24 but he’s just struggled more than most years admitting to battling depression and about in a recent interview. He’s not in a good place mentally right now and don’t expect great tennis from him.

Rublev v Schwartzman Prediction and Tip
