Daniil Medvedev v Jannik Sinner Head to Head
Medvedev has a 3-0 record against the Italian from their two meetings in Marseille in 2020 and 2021 and their ATP Finals meeting last year.

Medvedev Motors Along
Daniil Medvedev knocked out home favourite Dominic Thiem in straight sets on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals in Vienna.
Playing in the Austrian capital for the second time, Medvedev has now equalled his previous best record in the tournament, after he made a last eight exit in 2020.
The world no. 4, who had begun his campaign with a straight forward 6-2, 6-2 win over Nikoloz Basilashvili, needed just an hour and 38 minutes to beat Thiem 6-3, 6-3 in round two.
Just like the previous match, Medvedev wasn’t broken by Thiem either, but the former no. 3 did create a breaking opportunity in the match. And that came immediately after the Austrian had conceded the first break of the opening set. However, Medvedev saved the break point to hold serve and then broke again in the next game to take the opening set.
The Russian, who won 78% points on his first delivery, wasn’t troubled in the second set. He got the only break of the set in the fourth game and then held on to the advantage to end the 2019 champion’s campaign.
Medvedev has now improved his season record to 42-15. He has made it to the finals four times this year, but has landed just one title and that triumph came in Los Cabos.
A win will put him into a second consecutive semifinal and an eighth over the season. Can the top seed remain on top of his game and keep the winning run going?

Sinner Ousts Cerundolo
Last year’s semifinalist Jannik Sinner is one win from repeating that performance in Vienna, as the World no. 12 knocked out Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets on Thursday to move into the quarterfinals.
The sixth seed, who had outclassed Cristain Garin in the opening round, allowed the Argentine to come back from a break down in both the sets but he eventually got himself in front again on both the occasions to seal a 7-5, 6-3 win in an hour and 30 minutes.
The sixth seed, who had beaten Garin 6-3, 6-2 in a one-sided opener, notched his 47th win of the season on Thursday. It will be the 10th time this season that the 21-year-old will be featuring in a quarterfinal, but unfortuantely he has gone past the last eight stage on just two occasions this year. One of them was in Umag, where he went on to win the title and the other was in his previous tournament in Sofia.
Can the six-time tour-level champion cause an upset on Friday and get a step closer to an eighth career final?
Medvedev v Sinner Prediction and Tip
Medvedev has dominated this rivalry. He has also found his footing after a spell of inconsistency: He went out in the fourth round of the U.S. Open and lost his opening match in Metz, but he looked good in Astana, winning three on the trot before falling to Novak Djokovic at the final four stage, and has carried that form to Vienna. He is expected to reach another semifinal on Friday.
