Marin Cilic v Lorenzo Musetti Head to Head

Marin Cilic is set to compete in Paris on the heels of a pretty good year. He is 31-19 and has picked up a little over $1.9 million in prize money.
That said, the 36-year-old Croat is coming off bleak results; he lost in round two to Karen Khachanov in Astana and Arthur Rinderknech in Basel.

Musetti Enjoying a Stellar Season
Lorenzo Musetti has had a superb year himself. The 20-year-old Italian is currently ranked #23 – a career-best feat for him.
Most recently, he lost to Albert Ramos Vinolas in Basel in round one but before that, he won the title in Napoli after beating Matteo Berrettini in the final. That was his second title of the season, the other one being the Hamburg Open – where he dismissed the World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the title match.
Musetti’s record stands at 30-24, with many of those defeats coming in the opening fixtures. Of course, that is understandable as the youngster is still building experience.
But the fact that he has already defeated a few big names this year puts him in solid contention for an early upset.

This is a battle of generations that can go either way as Cilic’s experience will be countered by Musetti’s energised play. However, it is likely that we may be looking a long affair.
