Alex Molcan v Richard Gasquet
A very interesting matchup in Paris where native player Gasquet faces the lighting-quick Alex Molcan on a very slow court with a high bounce that could favour Molcan. It’s actually Gasquet who is favourite and with very good reason. He’s the better player indoors and has played far more matches both indoors and Paris.
He actually looked somewhat better in recent weeks as well with Molcan scoring a few good wins last week but nothing special. The French player was adamant in a recent interview that he’s not retiring and I believe him. He can certainly play one more year at a very high level.
They never played against each other so that makes this quite a bit interesting but Gasquet actually has had a better year. He has more wins 33 compare to the 30 of Molcan while they have the same number of defeats (24). Some of those wins did come on challenger evens but still. Gasquet to win.
Tip: Gasquet to win: 5/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Jessica Pegula v Maria Sakkari
The WTA Finals begin and we have a new player in Pegula who takes on Sakkari who was there last year as well. They recently clashed in the Guadalajara final and Pegula easily won that match in two sets with Sakkari never standing a chance.
Now they play again albeit on a different court and with different conditions but it would be silly to think that Pegula won’t win again. The American has been playing really great tennis and while Sakkari resurged a bit lately, she’s still not at her top level.
The American will also have the native crowd backing her and she generally does really well in America, likes most of their players. Sakkari does lead the H2H 3-2 but she’s been the worse player this year as Pegula transcended into the 3rd best player in the world behind Swiatek and Jabeur.
Will be closer than two weeks ago so an over is a solid option with good value.
Tip: Over 20.5 Games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Ons Jabeur v Aryna Sabalenka
Another fascinating matchup awaits us when Ons Jabeur takes on Aryna Sabalenka in round one of the finals. Jabeur has been the second-best player in the world as she proved that by playing two grand slam finals and they were the two most recent ones.
Sabalenka has been playing poor tennis in the first part of the year but she’s found her form a bit toward the end which was enough to qualify. She actually leads this H2H 2-1 with their most recent clash (last year’s Wimbledon) won by Sabalenka as well.
Jabeur improved tremendously since last year and she is favoured to win this match simply because right now she is the better player. I do think this will be a close one, perhaps one that will go to three sets but in the end, Jabeur should win.
Tip: Jabeur to win, Over 20.5 Games: 11/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
