Coco Gauff v Caroline Garcia Head to Head

Gauff leads 2-1; they last met in the US Open earlier this year, where Garcia stunned the teenager at home in straight sets. However, Gauff did beat her French adversary in Doha back in February in straight sets.

Gauff, Enjoying her Career-Best Season

If her current form is any indication, Cori Gauff is destined for greatness. At 18 years of age, she is already ranked World No. 4 and has picked up close to $3 million in prize money in 2022.

Her record is 38-19, and her big hit is the runner-up feat in the French Open, along with late-round appearances in the US Open, WTA Dubai, Canadian Open, and the Guadalajara Open.

What’s even more impressive is her ability to punch above her weight; she beat the likes of Madison Keys, Shuai Zhang, Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka, Naomi Osaka, Karolina Pliskova, Angelique Kerber, and Paula Badosa over the current season.

Even on the doubles circuit, Gauff has impressed titles from Doha and Toronto and the runner-up trophy from Paris. These accomplishments have also enabled her to compete in the WTA Finals doubles with Jessica Pegula.

All in all, Coco is the dark horse to follow this week.

Garcia Redeems Herself

Carolina Garcia has had quite a year herself. She is the current #6 – which is all the more astonishing when we see that she started the year outside the top 70.

The first half of her season was largely uneventful. It wasn’t until June that she started showing improvements, beginning with her title run in Bad Homburg. That kickstarted a resurgence that resulted in late-round showings in Lausanne, Palermo, and the US Open.

Caroline also took home trophies from the Poland Open and Cincinnati Open. The 28-year-old defeated many big names, notably Petra Kvitova, Sabalenka, Pegula, Maria Sakkari, and Iga Swiatek (in Warsaw).

That said, Caro has bagged just one win in her last three tournaments, so she is on shaky grounds.

Garcia v Gauff Prediction and Tip

This match can go either way. Garcia has the experience, but Gauff plays at home and has the crowd’s support. They are superbly matched for this exciting encounter that is likely to see many games.
