Coco Gauff v Caroline Garcia
Coco Gauff takes on Caroline Garcia in her first-ever WTA Finals match and it’s the first ever for Garcia as well. Both are debuting this year and they played twice this year. One of those came earlier this year in Doha when Gauff won in two sets. The second one happened at the US Open recently and that was won by Garcia in two sets.
It was a painful loss for Gauff who was playing so well until that match and she’ll be ready to take revenge. She looked far better in recent weeks than Garcia who cooled off from her hot run over the summer that pushed her all the way back into the top 10.
A lot will depend on the conditions because faster conditions will suit Garcia more due to her raw power in both her serve and groundstrokes. Slower condition would benefit Gauff more but she’ll still have the crowd on her side. I don’t know whether she’ll be able to exact revenge but I do think it will be more competitive than the New York one.
Take the over.
Tip: Over 20.5 Games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Daria Kasatkina v Iga Swiatek
A very interesting matchup awaits Iga Swiatek in the first round one of the WTA Finals this year. She’ll face a player she faced a total of four times this year and each of those times, Swiatek was the winning player. It’s been a while since they played as their most recent one came in May at the French Open but none of the matches were competitive.
This was a breakout year from Kasatkina who has looked better and better as the year went on but her recent form has been a bit shaky. She can play far better than that and the conditions will certainly suit Swiatek more so than Kasatkina.
Funnily enough, their first clash of the year was the most competitive one. Swiatek won that one 6-2 6-3. The next one went to Swiatek 6-1 6-2, the one after that 6-3 6-0 and the next one 6-1 6-2. It’s been utterly dominant and I expect something similar.
Tip: Swiatek to Win 2-0: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Holger Rune v Stan Wawrinka
Stan Wawrinka played some amazing tennis in recent weeks culminating in a couple of quarter-finals. The most recent one came last week in his native Switzerland in Basel where he lost to Roberto Bautista Agut. The Spaniard lost to Wawrinka’s round one opponent in Paris Holger Rune.
By virtue of logic, that means that Rune will win the match. Jokes aside, the Danish player has been in superb form indoors this week winning the Stockholm Open trophy which he followed up by making the final in Basel as well. Rune is playing attacking tennis and moves really well around the court making him a dangerous opponent in Paris.
The courts play a bit faster this year so that will certainly help him as well as he’s far more athletic than Wawrinka allowing him to defend better than the Swiss player as well. It will be a close and competitive one but Rune should win in two.
Tip: Rune to win in straight sets: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
