Andrey Rublev v John Isner Head to Head

Isner has a 3-0 record having won in Miami in 2015 and in Madrid and Canada last year.

Rublev In Fine Form

After an excellent few weeks, Andrey Rublev suffered a shock second round defeat to Grigor Dimitrov in Vienna last week. But he will look to quickly put the setback behind him as he begins his Paris campaign.

This is his fifth appearance at the Paris Masters and he has reached the third round just once.

Rublev, who has won four titles from four finals this year, has displayed great form recently. He reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open for the third time and then made it to the final four in Astana before going on to lift the title in Gijon two weeks ago.

Rublev’s other three titles came in Marseille, Dubai and Belgrade and he also finished in semifinals five times.

Overall he has a healthy 15-3 indoor record and will be looking to get off to a good start.

Isner Ousts Otte

Playing for the first time since withdrawing from the second round contest at the U.S. Open due to a wrist injury, John Isner served 19 aces and struck 40 winners to defeat Oscar Otte 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) in the first round of the Paris Masters.

Isner, who is ranked no. 47th in the world, got the solitary break of the first set. He didn’t hold a break point in the second set but saved two in the 10th game before going on to win the tiebreak.

He had built a 6-0 lead in the tiebreak before the qualifier won three points in a row, but a six point gap was too much to overhaul and Isner eventually sealed the contest.

A finalist in 2016 and a semifinalist in 2011 and 2017, Isner has some happy memories in Paris and will be looking to build on that record further. Monday’s win improved him to 23-16 in 2022. His best this year was a runner-up finish in Houston, while the other two notable performances included runs to the semis in Dallas and Newport

Rublev v Isner Prediction and Tip

Rublev is the in form player but he will be under a bit of pressure as he has never beaten Isner in the past three meetings. It’s going to be a close contest, but eventually the Russian should get his first win over Isner.
