Taylor Fritz v Gilles Simon

Gilles Simon is saying goodbye to tennis after this event and many expected him to do so following a round-one clash with Andy Murray. Despite the Brit being up a set and serving for the match, Simon managed a comeback win setting up this clash against Fritz.

The American had a complicated match as well in round one but he proved better than Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets. This event is very important for Fritz as he’s still fighting for a place in Turin. To get there, the American will need to win the event making this a must-win match for him.

Simon and Fritz played twice so far and each player has one win although they haven’t played in two years. Fritz is the far better player but Simon could be carried by the crowd and make this interesting. I don’t think he can win but he could make it a worthwhile watch.

Tip: Fritz to win AND Over 19.5 games: 7/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Ons Jabeur v Jessica Pegula

Two players who lost already at the WTA Finals will go head to head and the winner of this event will remain in contention for a place in the semi-final while the other player will be out. It’s a huge match for both players and both will try to win it.

They played plenty of times so far (5) with Jabeur leading 3-2. We saw two matches this year and both were won by Jabeur although Pegula looked the better player lately. Jabeur did win a set in her match while Pegula did not so maybe that’s a sign that the Tunisian has a better chance to win this one.

It’s tough to say because neither player showed their best in the first match. Jabeur did perform better at the US Open and the conditions in Forth Worth play very similarly. Regardless of who wins, it should be a close and competitive match like their Madrid final.

Expect three sets.

Tip: Over 20.5 Games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Maria Sakkari v Aryna Sabalenka

Both of these players were underdogs in their first matches but both emerged victorious. Sakkari demonstrated aggressiveness she hasn’t shown all year long wanting to avenge her defeat to Pegula in Guadalajara. She did and looked very comfortable doing it which could be troublesome for Sabalenka.

She did really well in her matchup as well looking more relaxed than usual and that has to do with her mentality coming into the event as she explained she will try her best and not worry about the result. She holds the edge against Sakkari in the H2H leading 4-2.

They did not play once this year which makes this one tough to predict. History tells us it should be a very close one and I do think we might see three sets. When it comes to the winner I think Sakkari looked a bit better so I’ll side with her.

Tip: Sakkari to Win, Over 20.5 Games: 11/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
