Carreno Busta Kick-Starts with Easy Win
A quarterfinalist at each of his previous three tournaments last month, Carreno Busta enters his second round match here in Paris with an easy win in the opener here.
Carreno Busta registered a 6-3, 6-3 win over fellow Spaniard and clay court specialist Albert Ramos Vinolas in the first round to seal his spot next to Shapovalov.
In a match lasting an hour and 32 minutes, Carreno Busta broke his opponent three times while saving all the three break-points he faced in the encounter. Nine aces and a first serve winning percentage of 81% went a long way in helping the world number 14 clinching the encounter.
Can he now add on to his four wins against the world number 16?

Shapovalov Takes His Time with Cerundolo
Shapovalov entered this tournament having featured in the Vienna Open final just two days before this encounter. While the confidence would have been at its peak, the quick turnaround might have been a factor as he had to scrape through to a win over his Argentine opponent Francisco Cerundolo.
Cerundolo, who has risen to 30th in the world, kept Shapovalov on court for two hours and 14 minutes before the Canadian came through 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4.
A good first serve helped Shapovalov as he won nearly 80% of those points, while facing just two break-points in the entire encounter. He saved one and while he was broken once in the first set, that was the last time he faced any break-points.
Shapovalov’s form in more recent times has shown a turnaround with a final at Seoul and Vienna and to go with a semifinal appearance at the Tokyo Open under his belt.
Can he turn things around against Carreno Busta though?
Carreno Busta v Shapovalov Prediction and Tip
This could turn out to be an interesting encounter but we give Carreno-Busta the edge as Shapovalov plays his ninth match in 15 days. Exhaustion could be a factor as a result.
