Stefanos Tsitsipas v Daniil Medvedev
Tsitsipas did nto have much success against Medvedev over the years beating him only three times in ten matches but he’ll be hoping to add win number four on Wednesday. In their latest clash, Tsitsipas was able to add win number three as he proved better than Medvedev in Cincinnati.
The Russian won in Australia earlier this year and this will be the third time they met. Judging by how they did in the previous match, Tsitsipas will have some decent chances. Medvedev has been quite vulnerable this year and he did not look too comfortable with the quickness of the court.
The main thing Tsitsipas will need to do is serve well. Keep the points short and don’t complicate things too much because Medvedev tends to bait out some poor choices by him generally. I do think Medvedev will step up and win the match. The H2H is just too much of a compelling case not to back it.
Tip: Medvedev to win: 4/9 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Novak Djokovic v Andrey Rublev
Novak Djokovic winning in the previous match was not a surprise but Rublev winning was certainly one. The Russian made great use of the quick speed of the court to attack Medvedev and he’ll bring the same plan for this match.
Djokovic is incredible at winning points he has no business winning but it’s very tough when you play a player who is used to playing like that. They only played twice and Djokovic won their match in Turin last year. It was a rather convincing win but the speed is even higher now and it might work for Rublev.
He will need to serve well otherwise he is in a huge problem because good returns will come his way regardless. As good as he can do that I don’t think he’ll be able to sustain it. Expect Djokovic won this match rather comfortably because he’s far more consistent and that will be a problem for the Russian as the match goes on.
Tip: Djokovic to win: 7/17 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Ivan Dodig/Austin Krajicek v Nick Kyrgios/Thanasi Kokkinakis
Kyrgios and Kokkinakis will fight to survive in this match because a loss will eliminate them from contention. Neither of them really expected much from this event but don’t be fooled if you think they are not trying. This is a different Kyrgios and he’s certainly far more competitive than he lets on.
Their opponents are a very good pairing that has had quite a bit of success indoors this year with an 11-4 record and a trophy won in Basel. They are in good shape and will present a challenge for the Australians. What went wrong for Kyrgios and Kokkinakis in round one was the serve.
It was so good in the first set, they could barely lose a point but after that, it dropped off quite a bit. They were never able to create much pressure with the return and that’s a problem. It’s generally one of their strong suits and it will be key here.
Tip: 3 sets in match: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
