Stefanos Tsitsipas v Grigor Dimitrov Head to Head
There have been six previous meetings between these two players and Tsitsipas leads the head to head 5-1. Dimitrov’s only win came indoors at the Vienna Open of 2020 but since then the Greek number one has won four in a row.
This is the first time they will be facing off on an outdoor hard court surface.

Tsitsipas Coming off a Solid Abu Dhabi Exhibition Showing
In a bid to get going with the warm-up for the new season, Tsitsipas featured in two exhibition tournaments in December – one called the Diriyah Tennis Cup and another at Abu Dhabi.
At the former, he was knocked out in the first round by Cameron Norrie but once he got his bearings right, the world number four won three in a row in Abu Dhabi. This included a victory against Norrie before ran past Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev in the next two encounters.
Overall, Tsitsipas looked to have a solid year in 2022, winning a lot more than he lost – a 61-24 win-loss record giving him a better win ratio than his career victory ratio. Titles at the Monte-Carlo Masters and Mallorca Open would have helped too.
However, Tsitsipas would like to do a lot more at Grand Slams where he reached just one semifinal – and that came way back at the Australian Open.
Can he continue with his form here and slowly build it up through to that same Grand Slam tournament in a couple of weeks time? He has a tough opener here.

Dimitrov Hoping to Do Better Than 2022
Sure there have been the odd sparks of brilliance from Dimitrov but he would be the first to put his hand up and say he would like to do better than his showing in 2022.
The Bulgarian finished with an overall win-loss record of 26-22 at the highest level last season which included just four wins at Grand Slam tournaments. Add two wins from eight encounters against top-10 players and you are looking at a former world number three who is no longer in the prime of his career.
What positives can he, therefore, take in a match like this one against a fourth-ranked player?
For starters, Dimitrov would like to build on the way he ended the season winning five of the seven matches at Vienna and at the Paris Masters. He also kick-started this season with a warm-up win over Nick Kyrgios at the World Tennis League?
Can all of that come handy for a solid showing against the Greek number one?
Tsitsipas v Dimitrov Prediction and Tip
We are looking at a Tsitsipas victory here and in all probabilities it could well be a straight-set one. Dimitrov, we believe, will put up a fight but in just one set.
