Diego Schwartzman v Arthur Rinderknech Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came at the Tel Aviv Open last year which Rinderknech won in a third set tie-breaker. Can we expect another of those thrillers here?

Schwartzman On a Seven-Match Losing Streak

Schwartzman looked to be going great guns in 2022 despite not having won a title.

A couple of clay court tournament finals and another couple of semifinal appearances had punctuated his season and that had been followed by a fourth round appearance at the French Open.

Even in hard court competitions, he looked to have done well with a third round showing at Cincinnati Masters and the US Open but following that things went kaput for Schwartzman.

Since winning his second round match at Flushing Meadows, the Argentine’s form has gone on a tailspin. He hasn’t won a match! Yep, that’s right, he has played seven matches spread across nearly two months and lost them all.

Can he stall this streak and get past his French opponent?

Rinderknech Hoping to Build on Solid 2022 Season

It has been a couple of great years for Rinderknech who, before the pandemic hit in 2020, was ranked outside the top 300. Today he is 44th in the world, just a couple of places behind his career-best.

And that has been thanks to his steadily improving performances across the past two seasons which have seen him make it through to his maiden ATP tournament final last year.

While Rinderknech lost that one in Adelaide to Thanasi Kokkinakis, he has dished out enough by the way of performances at Gijon and Doha in 2022 to suggest, he cannot be taken lightly.

Rinderknech’s next goal could be an improvement at the Masters 1000 and Grand Slam competitions, at which he has never won more than a round. But before that, he would want to make a winning start against a player he has won a match before.

Schwartzman v Rinderknech Prediction and Tip

This could be another of those fighting matches but with Rinderknech expected to edge out the off-colour Schwartzman.
