Lorenzo Musetti v Felipe Meligeni Alves Head to Head
This will be the first time that Musetti and Meligeni Alves will be facing off in a competitive encounter.

Never had Musetti won an ATP title at the highest level till he did that in 2022 in Hamburg.
And then he doubled it with a victory on the hard courts of Napoli later in the year to live up to the billing of one of the players to watch out for in the times to come.
Which is also why the 20-year-old Musetti ended the season ranked 23rd in the world, his career-best ranking and will now look to push on to greater heights – even aim for a top-10 ranking.
For that though, he will have to do a lot better on surfaces other than clay, which is Musetti’s favourite incidentally.
Last year, for instance, he won just 11 of the 21 matches on hard court surfaces, 10 out of 21 on indoor and grass court. He has a good chance to kick things off in a better manner on hard court here when he takes on a player ranked outside the top 150 with a promise for sterner tests later in the tournament.

Alves Also a Clay-Court Specialist
At least Musetti showed he can adapt to hard courts at times with his title win in Napoli. Meligeni Alves is a quintessential clay-courter who barely plays any matches on hard court surfaces having featured in only three such matches last season.
The result? He lost all three and then moved back to clay court competitions.
And while Meligeni Alves did end the season with a semifinal appearance in one such tournament on clay, his record in the final quarter of the 2022 season wasn’t the best.
He had won just five of the 13 matches on clay before enter that semifinal in Sao Leopoldo and now enters this competition knowing he will be up against it on a surface he doesn’t like. Can he put up a fight?

While Meligeni Alves will hope to put up a fight, the stark reality is he has too much work to do outside of clay and against a player of the capability of Musetti. Expect an easy win.
