Nick Kyrgios v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

There have been three previous meetings between these two and Norrie leads 2-1. The Briton won both their encounters on the hard court surfaces of Atlanta while Norrie overcame his opponent at the 2020 ATP Cup.

This is also a team event like the ATP Cup.

Kyrgios Hoping Team Event Inspires Him Again

While Kyrgios had one of the best seasons of his career in 2022, his pre-season workout in the lead-up to 2023 hasn’t been the greatest so far.

After withdrawing from the last match of the 2022 in Tokyo, Kyrgios has lost three successive matches spread across two exhibition competitions. At Diriyah, he went down to Cameron Norrie before falling to Felix Auger-Aliassime and Grigor Dimitrov in the World Tennis League.

That being said, Kyrgios loves his action in team events and a home tournament like the United Cup could spur him on further.

Not to mention, Kyrgios finished the previous season with a win-loss record of 37-10, which included a final appearance at Wimbledon and a title victory at the Washington Open.

Can he combine his good form from the previous season and his love for team events to start things off on a solid note here?

Norrie Flagged off Towards the End of 2022

Title wins at the Delray Beach Open and Lyon Open, a final at the Acapulco Open and semifinals at Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Masters – that’s how brilliant Norrie was in 2022.

Unfortunately for the Brit, he failed to finish off the season in a manner he would have liked. After reaching the the fourth round of the US Open, Norrie won just four of his next eight matches to finish off the year on a modest note.

He looked to be in a decent touch in the pre-season competitions, defeating Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Diriyah Tennis Cup and then overcoming Borna Coric in Abu Dhabi.

Can he take his form from the previous season – which had seen Norrie finish the season ranked 14th in the world – forward into the new year? He has a tough opponent to start things out.

Kyrgios v Norrie Prediction and Tip

Not surprisingly Kyrgios is the favourite but at 8/13 those sound like very short odds coming up against a player of the talent and form of Norrie. Expecting a three-setter here.
