Paula Badosa v Harriet Dart Head to Head

Surprisingly, Dart is up 2-0 against Badosa. They last met in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals 2022 November, where Dart won 6-3, 6-4.

Dart Off to a Good Start

Harriet Dart seems to have a flair for performing when representing her country on the big stage. For example, in November’s BJK Cup Finals, she steered Great Britain into the semis after beating Badosa in the group stage.

In the semifinal, facing Australia, Dart bagged the sole win for her team as she beat Ajla Tomljanovic in straight sets. She kept her country in contention for the title, pushing the decider to doubles, where the pairing of  Sanders-Stosur prevailed.

This week in Sydney, she did the same by dispatching Australia’s Maddison Inglis  6-4, 6-4. That comfortable win effectively sealed the deal for Great Britain as they now lead the Group D table.

That said, Dart’s singles pedigree is nowhere on the same level as Badosa’s. She finished the 2022 season 29-29 and a singles ranking of World No. 98. Her highlights – reaching the quarterfinal in Nottingham and Eastbourne and the round of 16 in Indian Wells.

Badosa, Ready to Rock and Roll

Paula Badosa will be keen on building on the breakthrough season she enjoyed in 2022. She peaked at the #2 spot in April and closed the season at the 13th position.

With a little over $1.5 million in prize money, the 25-year-old Spaniard will look to kickstart the new season on the first day of the year on a winning note.

She was a bit off in the season’s final leg, having lost early in Toronto, Cincinnati, US Open, Tokyo, Ostrava, San Diego, and Guadalajara. Given that her last defeat came at the hands of Dart, Paula hopes to avoid the same fate again.

For what it is worth, she has a rich pedigree and a strong record against the elites on tour.

Badosa v Dart Prediction and Tip

Badosa would be the player to back if this were any other WTA match. But given that this is a country event, Dart has a good chance of winning. Expect a cracking affair.
