Casper Ruud v Thiago Monteiro
Casper Ruud and Thiago Monteiro played a couple of matches so far and to no one’s surprise, the Norwegian was the one that won the majority of them. He’s already played this year and did rather well as he never had an offseason.
He kept playing after the ATP Finals going on a Tour with Nadal and then briefly rested at home before making his way to the Middle East.
That should give him an advantage over Monteiro who essentially played his first match against Berrettini recently. The Brazilian is a solid player but also not one that is going to beat the best players as he simply lacks the weapons to seriously challenge them.
This should be an interesting match though as the surface will give Monteiro to attack with his forehand and he might keep it close. Ruud is widely expected to win this one but I think there might a chance where the Brazilian keeps it close enough for an over on the games.
Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Hubert Hurkacz v Alexander Bublik
A very interesting matchup awaits us when Hurkacz takes on Bublik. They played a couple of them already and Hurkacz has been far more successful. I think the same thing awaits us here because he’s played far more tennis leading up to this event compared to Bublik.
Bublik was quite rusty in the first match he played in Australia as Wawrinka proved better rather easily. Hurkacz is also quite solid and sooner or later, Bublik will simply lose the plot a little bit and Hurkacz can capitalize on that. That is how most of their matches so far went.
Even if I think Hurkacz will win this match there is a good chance Bublik is able to push one set to the tiebreak. All it takes is a strong set of serving and that’s fairly common for Bublik. He might even win a set if he plays really well so that only favours this pick more.
Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Paula Badosa v Harriet Dart
Paula Badosa has high hopes of this year and starting the year strong will be crucial for the Spaniard. She’ll face a good test in Dart who is a solid player but far from the level Badosa generally plays at. Despite all of that, Dart leads Badosa 2-0 which would surprise most people.
They actually played not that long ago in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals with Dart winning in straight sets. She played at home so that probably had something to do with that but Badosa can be vulnerable if you play aggressively and don’t allow her a lot of time to prepare for her shots.
Dart certainly plays that way but the losses should also fuel Badosa in this matchup. Both will be playing for their countries so the motivation should be same. I think Dart can surprise once more, the 2-0 might indicate a matchup problem and it’s worth a try.
Tip: Dart to win: 7/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
